Welcome to the Sew Long Summer blog tour. We’re going to have a fun one this year.
A nice group of sewing bloggers are going to share with you how we say “Sew Long Summer” and we’ll be asking you to join in with a Social Sew too (read on for details and prizes)
Sew Long Summer is all about getting those transitional wardrobe pieces ready; finishing up all those things we meant to make this summer; and well, basically whatever Sew Long Summer means to you.
Share what you’ve been making to say “Sew Long Summer” to be entered into our random drawing.
Continental US participants will be entered to win a $20 store credit from Simply by Ti Fabrics.
All other participants will be entered to win a pattern of choice from DG Patterns.
To enter, please tag your sewing project with #SewLongSewcial18 on Instagram or facebook. You can also leave a link in the comments on the mahlicadesigns intro post. Please limit your entries to items you’ve sewn between Sept 10th and Sept 28th 2018. Winners will be notified and announced shortly thereafter.
Due to all my family’s summer adventures, I’m afraid my sewing blog took the back seat the last couple of months. We’ve enjoyed trips to Utah, Seattle, and Boston, we’ve spent countless hours at the pool, I’ve started working a few hours a week in the childcare center at my gym, we’ve enjoyed time in nature camping and hiking, and spent many an afternoon sitting on the front porch eating popsicles. It’s bittersweet to see the summer go, but it’s time to start transitioning to our fall adventures.
My twins have started pre-k. We’re doing a co-op with some of our friends and so far they are loving it. My two year old is always sad to see them go, but she’s really been enjoying one-on-one time with mom as well. Autumn in Arkansas is really beautiful and the weather is perfect for lots of outdor fun. We’re planning a camping trip next week for the twin’s birthday and we’re headed to Disney World in October. So nothing is slowing down for my family, but I’ve really missed sewing and blogging. I’m so excited that I get to participate in the Sew Long Summer Blog Tour. Getting on tour gave me the push I needed to get back to my sewing machine and start created new clothing for the upcoming season.
I bought this unicorn fabric from Sew So English back in February to make my 2 year old a birthday outfit. (Which you can read about here.) My 4 year olds were of course jealous, and asked if I could make them something with the leftover fabric. I promised them I would, and I was finally able to follow through on that promise. I knew they were in need of new long sleeve shirts for the cooler months to come. I didn’t want just a basic shirt, so I went rifling through my patterns to search for inspiration. As soon as I saw the Sapphire Tee from Petite Stitchery, I knew it would be just what I was looking for. The little ruffle sleeve adds a very sweet girly touch that I knew my kids would adore. The ruffle is super simple to add and the shirts were a pretty quick sew. The girls chose to accessorize them with their unicorn embroidered jeans and unicorn headbands (both from Target.) Are you seeing a theme here? Clearly, we are a little obsessed with unicorns around here.
Now that I’ve gotten a start on my next season sewing, I’m really looking forward to sewing even more. I have several more items planned for the kids as well as for me. Plus, let’s not forget about Halloween coming up! Hopefully, I’m able to squeeze in more time for sewing and blogging over the next couple of months!
Thanks for stopping by on the tour. If you’d like to follow the other bloggers, you can check out the schedule below. Happy Fall Y’all!
The full tour includes these talented sewists, so I hope you’ll follow along this week.
